Depositphotos_48486305_sThis course is taught largely from the front & draws from the latest thinking in eating disordered clinical research, evidence based treatments, coaching, health & counselling psychology. Suitability: The course is suitable for counsellors, psychologists, psychotherapists, doctors, nutritionists, nurses, social workers, personal fitness trainers & other health professionals working with mental health, nutrition or disordered eating.

We also offer this course as corporate training and are happy to work with organisations who wish to develop these skills. We welcome enquiries from companies seeking in house training and offer discount for groups.

This 2 day workshop aims to provide a broad understanding of the complex spectrum of eating disorders.

  • Definitions, diagnostic features and effects of Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, atypical presentation, Orthorexia and the Night Eating Syndrome
  • Enhancing motivation, ready willing and able
  • Education: What the client needs to know, and when
  • Body image and self-worth, the connection
  • Body image therapy
  • Core beliefs in eating disorders
  • Thoughts, feelings and behaviour- the relationship
  • The distinction between counselling for obesity and eating disturbance
  • Coaching for change
  • How and when to use appropriate resources such as alternative professional expertise and how to integrate your work with that of the other professionals involved in the recovery process

Bridin has a broad base work background that has equipped her with a vast resource of experiences that are invaluable to her as a therapist, enabling greater understanding and effective progress in client’s therapy.

After qualifying as a psychotherapist Bridin has further trained at The National Centre for Eating Disorders and Obesity in London and is an affiliate member of their professional network, holding specialist qualifications for working with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, obesity, eating disorders and associated mental health conditions.

Bridin is the Managing Director and Founder of Northern Ireland’s first clinic treating obesity and eating disorders using evidence based psychological treatment models.

Bridin is an Associate Trainer for The National Centre for Eating Disorders in London and an Associate trainer for BEAT Eating Disorder Charity delivering eating disorder training to professionals and organisations throughout Northern and Southern Ireland. She is an AMT approved Emotional Freedom Techniques Master Practitioner, trainer and facilitator. Bridin has also delivered Obesity Management training to the Health Promotion Team at Action Cancer.

Bridin is a U.K.C.P Accredited Psychotherapist and holds professional memberships with  www.ukcp.com www.awakenschool.co.uk and www.anlp.org
