In a Relationship with Food Workshops

In a Relationship with Food Workshops

These workshops have proved highly popular and provide delegates with a powerful range of resources and tools, as well as learning to apply the therapies to everyday life situations.

When we turn on the news, it should come as no surprise that the United Kingdom is trying to get a handle on an epidemic-level of dispute concerning our weight. Each week, it seems, there’s a new book on the shelf at the bookstore describing how to overcome ourselves and to get our weight issues under control, whether we’re dealing with emotionally driven overeating, under-eating, binge eating, bulimia or negative self image and body hatred– will power is often seen as the cure.So why is it that with all this well-intentioned knowledge and health studies, people just can’t help themselves when it comes to eating?I see it in so many of my clients, exerting so much energy in trying to manage, control, count, and white-knuckle their way to health by wrestling their appetite!

And the end result is unfortunately always the same: “I was doing really well until…”
The amount of guilt that arises inside when we feel we have failed ourselves is tremendous. We berate ourselves for not getting it together, because we need stronger willpower, and maybe we’re just a failure. Maybe we’re destined for eternal nutritional bondage, because we just can’t stop eating.

Would it surprise you if there really isn’t anything “wrong” with us when it comes to emotional eating?  In reality there is only one reason why emotional eating is not the enemy we think it is – and it’s because we are emotional beings.

Here is the true ‘cost’ of being overweight;

Emotional:

  • Teasing as a child or ridicule/judgement as an adult
  •  Feelings of low self esteem, not being worthy
  •  Feeling invisible or wanting to be invisible
  •  Shame, embarrassment, guilt
  •  Hiding from painful truths and traumas, protecting self

Financial:

  •  Wasted money on diet programmes, surgeries, pills and potions
  •  Buying larger clothing or clothes you feel like you will never wear again
  •  Gym memberships

Health:

  •  Insulin resistance, diabetes, heart disease, Coeliac, irritable Bowel Syndrome, obesity,  breathing issues
  •  Medications
  •  Low energy levels and fatigue
  •  Depression or anxiety

Social and family:

  •  Loneliness
  •  Not engaging in relationships
  •  Not feeling worthy of honest and respectful relationships

Physical:

  •  Not able to move easily
  •  Can’t play with children/ grandchildren
  •  Not enjoying nature
  •  Hard to do daily activities.

Put yo-yo dieting and unhealthy weight cycling behind you forever.

  •  Turn the broken promises and self-hate of binge eating into new and healthier  behaviors around food.
  •  Turn “emotional binges” into permanent weight loss results and weight loss retention.
  •  Stop feeding your hungry heart with foods that ultimately don’t satisfy you, learn what  your cravings are really telling you.
  •  Enjoy your favorite foods without them controlling you.
  •  Clear your unconscious anxiety and fear around food.
  •  Learn new groundbreaking techniques and skills that really work.
  •  Manage your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in a much healthier way…turn ‘fat  thoughts’ into a more supportive internal dialogue.
